Banjar Regency is wellknown as the City of Diamond, however, besides diamond, Banjar Regency is also wellknown as the producer of rubber from people’s plantation; 89.9% of the area of the rubber plantation in South Kalimantan is owned by common people there (BKPMD Kalsel, 2015). The Subdistrict of Karang Intan comprises of 26 villages having a lot of rubber plantation which have been there since the era of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. Since then, rubber has been the main support of the economy of people there. Latex which has been insicioned then coagulated using acetic acid or formic acid to become lump. The lump collectors buy it from the rubber tappers and sold it to the factory of rubber processors in Banjarmasin to become SIR 10 and SIR 20 to be exported. The price is based on KKK (Kadar Karet Kering or Dried Rubber Standard) the price of wet rubber is around Rp. 2,500.00 to Rp. 6,500.00. The price of dried rubber is around Rp. 10,000.00 to Rp. 13,000.00. The price of rubber from other places like Pleihari, Danau Salak, and Hulu Sungai is bought in higher price by the factory. Rubber from Karang Intan is cheaper because it has low quality. The image of the low quality of rubber from Karang Intan is difficult to be omitted. In the research, it is revealed that there are rubber tappers who use agricultural fertilizer (Urea, NSP) as the coagulation. By using the agricultural fertilizer, the proces of coagulation is faster, the lump is big and heavy, but it has many pores and contains water and that’s why the quality is low. It needs education to make rubber farmer in Karang Intan realize of the importance of quality to increase the price. The price of better rubber will give more economic benefit.
