Nowadays, technology is everywhere and used by everyone. As foreign language teachers, we need to adapt and adopt technology as it provides us with opportunities to evaluate the way we teach and learn English. Among all devices created, mobile phone or hand phone becomes more affordable and has great potential to be used as a tool for educational purposes inside and outside the classroom. Some recent studies have found that mobile phones have great impact on students learning since they encourage independent learning and make the students become more actively engaged. Since students always bring their hand phone in the classroom, teachers should aware of this phenomenon and then use this for the benefit of teaching and learning activities. The present study tries to examine of how mobile phone can assist English Department students of FKIP ULM Banjarmasin in language learning. This study also explores and discusses some ideas and potential applications to be used by the English teachers in teaching the language. It is suggested for English teachers to introduce innovative methods and resourceful materials in the English classroom with the help of mobile phones. The study also comes up with the conclusion that this new technology can affect and actually improve the process of language learning.
