dc.description Smokes caused by land burning every dry season becomes problems for transportation and health. Air pollution in Central Kalimantan in October 2015 came to a level 2000 km with 20 m range of sight, and fire was found in 314 places. Some neighborging countries has complained obout these smokes. The government has prohibited fimly the activities of land burning by the big of forein companies as well as those done by the community whateverthe reason are. The prohibition has influenced the Dayak community in Central Kalimantan as well, whose farming culture are shipting cultivation and system agro foresty, which are done by burning teh land. The Dayak Community actually has good economy. Besides good farming field, they have have rubber and rattan fields ans well. Becouse the price of rubber and rattan going down this time, and laand burning is prohibited, their economic situation is disturbed. People in region of Katingan are still looking for alternatives for their farming activities, for example: cultivating cassava and corns. People are encouraged to follow the program of cultivating cassava and work together with investors. The cassava cultivation can be more suitable becouse it has something in common with the farming culture of the Dayak people. The problem is that a partner company demands for certain quality. The Dayak people, who have used to farm in an easy will have difficulties to adapt to farming cassava in moddern way. They are not used to dig the land, give fertilizer aand medicine regulary. Training program is needed here as well as control to this program. The farming culture wich used to be eased by nature must be changed to the modern way of farming. This change need continuous guide and development by the goveernment. Keywords: Shifting Cuktivation, system argo foresty, land burning, cassava cultivation
