Abstract:
Postpartum hemorrhage is bleeding more than 500 ml that occurs after vaginal delivery.
Data from Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin mentioned that from 714 deliveries in January to December 2018
there were 28 cases of postpartum hemorrhage. Risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage include age and
parity. The study aims to determine the associations of maternal age and parity with the incidence of
postpartum hemorrhage in Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin in the period January 2018 - June 2019. The study
used an observational analytic method that was case control. The study population was all patients who
gave birth in the delivery room of Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin in January 2018 - June 2019. The study
sample was divided into case and control samples. Case sampling technique uses total sampling and
control samples use simple random sampling. The statistical test used was chi-square with a confidence
level of 95%. The results showed that postpartum hemorrhage patients at age less than 20 and more than
35 years were 62.2% and in nulliparous, primiparous and multiparous parity (parity> 3) were 70.3%.
Obtained the results of the analysis of the associations of postpartum hemorrhage to maternal age (p =
0,000) and parity (p = 0.010). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant associations
between maternal age and parity with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in Ulin Hospital
Banjarmasin in the period January 2018 - June 2019.
