Abstract:
Pemangkih Tengah is a village which is an area surrounded by tidal swamp land. Approximately 80% of the tidal swamp land is used by the community for rice farming. In swampy land that is not used for agriculture, water hyacinth weeds (Eichhornia crassipes) are overgrown, which has an impact on water use. One effort to overcome this problem is to use water hyacinth as fertilizer. Organic fertilizer from water hyacinth is able to improve the physical structure of the soil, increase the availability of nutrients, and vegetative growth. The PKM team made this fertilizer-making activity a program in overcoming
environmental problems in Pemangkih Tengah village RT 06 RW 01. Water hyacinth is a great way to create organic fertilizer, and planting vegetables in the yard using this fertilizer is a great way to get healthy and nutritious food. The manufacturing process begins with the preparation of tools, taking materials (water hyacinth, and husks), chopping and drying, mixing and fermentation, the last is fertilizer packaging. The PKM
team succeeded in making organic fertilizer with the main ingredient of water hyacinth and providing education on how to make it to the community. In addition, water hyacinth organic fertilizer products can be marketed widely, thus creating new business opportunities to improve the economy of the people of Central Pemangkih Village.
