This report is a preliminary study of a grand research that attempts to identify Chinese influence in traditional Banjarese houses in Banjarmasin. The Palimasan house on JL.RK Ilir no 559 Kelayan Banjarmasin is chosen as an object of the case study, due to the age factor of the house and its well maintenance. The analysis covers the house typology which consist of space layout, style and ornament.
The result of this research shows that typology of traditional Banjarese house does not have any a complete changeover on space layout. Chinese architecture influence is found in the use of ornament on the wall or column with detail that shows Feng Shui consideration. The other influence is found in the courtyard of the house that symbolized macrocosmos and microcosmos world.
