Abstract:
Abstract: Indonesia's forest management is still unable to fulfill the constitutional mandate, thus driving the rate of forest degradation and deforestation. This very high damage occurred in the concession a r e a , t h e r e f o r e f o r e s t m a n a g e m e n t in c u s t o m a r y la n d s m u s t b e returned to indigenous peoples who do have constitutional rights. Furthermore, based on previous research c onducted by the World R e s o u r c e I n s tit u t e , f o r e s t m a n a g e m e n t u n d e r t h e c o n t r ol o f indigenous peoples runs more effectively than forest management o u t sid e t h e s c o p e o f a d a t a n d can r e d u c e t h e r a t e o f f o r e s t deforestation. The purpose of this research is to answer 2 (two) main issues, namely; (1) Analyzing forest protection based on local laws of t h e D a y a k K o t a b a r u in dig e n o u s p e o ple o n e n vir o n m e n t al sustainability; (2) Finding a fore st protection model based on the local law of the Dayak Kotabaru indigenous people in Kalimantan Selatan . The research method used in the first year is an empirical research method that examines the forest protection model based on local laws of the indige nous Dayak community in Kalimantan Selatan . In the s e c o n d y e a r , u sin g t h e s o cio - le g al r e s e a r c h , dis c o v e r e d t h e c o n c e p t o f r e gio n al p olicie s in f o r e s t m a n a g e m e n t b a s e d o n t h e values contained in the local legal system of the Dayak indigenous people in Kal imantan Selatan.
