Abstract:
Land use conducted in accordance with its ability to protected areas or farm area in a watershed
will provide benefits for the benefit of the water system and the welfare of society. Land use do not match the
capabilities and purposes may increase the risk of floods. Balitbangda South Kalimantan (2010) states that
the period from 2007 to 2010, flood in Banjar regency as many as 10 districts and 65 villages. The purpose
of this research is to know the land ability class become the reference for determining the direction of the use
and the utilization of the land, While the expected benefits to be a reference for flood control measures for
the short and long term. The determination of land capability class is done through spatial approach method
by utilizing Geographic information system. The study results obtained: 1) domination of the land capability
class parameters: a) slope, > 65% area of 31.46%; b) drainage, either 94.2%; c) The volume of surface
rocks, lots of 36.5%; d) the erosion was 49.7%; e) the soil depth in 66.6%; f) soil texture, subtle bit; sandy clay,
clay 57.95%. 2) land capability class sub-watershed Riam Kiwa sub watershed Martapura III to VIII. 3) Flood
control optimally through forest rehabilitation based on land capability class in the sub watershed Martapura.
