Abstract:
Energy needs in Indonesia are currently influenced by the availability of energy derived from fossils such as coal and oil and natural gas that can not be renewable (unrenewable), with the energy limitations the government is looking for alternative renewable energy such as briquettes. This study aims to determine the quality of charcoal briquettes from ulin wood waste (Eusideroxylon zwageri) and to know the magnitude of the effect of the powder size of 60-80 mesh and 80-100 mesh with the adhesive content of 3%, 5% and 7% to water content, density, fly, ash content, fixed carbon and calorific value of charcoal briquettes. Making charcoal briquettes using complete randomized design method 3 x 2 (3 replicates 2 treatments). The test results obtained the best value of moisture contained in the treatment A ₁ B ₂ of 2.124%, density on treatment A ₃ B ₁ of 0.606 gr / cm³, aerated substances in treatment A ₁ B ₁ of 27.1%, ash content at treatment A ₁ B ₁ of 43.667%, fixed carbon at treatment A ₃ B perl equal to 9,779% and heat value at treatment A ₁ B ₁ equal to 3945 cal / gr
