Abstract:
Artocarpus is the genus of the Moraceae family which has a high species diversity. However, due to excessive habitat degradation and conversion, its existence is threatened. This study aims to analyze the diversity and genetic relationships of Artocarpus using DNA chloroplast markers (matK and rbcL), based on in silico analysis. A total of 2 sets of matK and rbcL sequences from 48 Artocarpus species have been analyzed using some software, namely BLAST, Clustal Omega, and MEGA-X, and reconstructed phylogenetically using the Maximum Likelihood method. The results showed that Artocarpus has a relatively high diversity at the nucleotide level, mainly for the rbcL (0.56). The results of the genetic relationship show that Artocarpus is generally separated into two main groups or clades, following both sequences, as well as its combination. This information might be useful in supporting the conservation and breeding programs of Artocarpus, especially in Indonesia.
