Abstract:
Jeruju (Hydrolea spinosa L.) is a South Borneo wetland endemic plant that is believed by the local community as a medicinal plant for antipyreutic This study aims to identify the chemical compounds contained in Jeruju leaf extract. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent, then phytochemical screening and affirmation tests using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) using the mobile phase of chloroform: ethanol: aquades (20:1:0.5; 25:1:0.5; 27:1:0.5; 15:2:1; 8:2:1 and 6:2:1) and n-hexane: ethyl acetate in the ratio of 8:2; 7:3 and 6:4, the appearance of stains was carried out at UV 254 nm, 366 nm and with 10% H2SO4 spraying. The TLC analysis of Jeruju leaf extract shows that the ethanol extract of Jeruju leaf contains tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and saponins.
