Abstract:
This study aims to analyse the morphological structure of organo-silica membranes
and investigate their use and performance in a hybrid photocatalytic–pervaporation
process for the desalination of wetland saline water. When applied to
such raw water sources, this hybrid process – which is shown to have a number of
benefits, including excellent water flux and salt rejection, and reduced membrane
fouling – has the potential to produce clean water that is often needed in both
developing and developed countries worldwide.
