Abstract:
Oral soft tissue diseases affect various populations at varying rates ranging from 2.5 to 58 percent.The
incidence of oral disease covers 58% of the elderly population and 34.8% of the pediatric population.
This study aims to determine the prevalence of oral soft tissue disease in Banjarmasin City in 2017–
2020. This type of research combines quantitative research with descriptive data analysis. The variables
in this study were oral soft tissue disease and gender. The data source used secondary data obtained
from the recording and reporting of the LB-1 form of the Banjarmasin City Health Center. The results
showed that the most oral soft tissue cases were in 2018, with a total of 11,734 cases, with the most
cases being women, with 6934 cases (59.09%). The most common types of disease in oral soft tissue
cases in 2017–2020 were gingivitis and periodontal disease. Gingivitis and periodontal disease were the
most prevalent in 2019 with a total of 9381 cases (81.33%) of the total oral tissue diseases and the most
suffered by the female sex with a total of 6058 cases (64.58%). It is necessary to increase the prevention
of the incidence of oral soft tissue diseases, especially gingivitis and periodontal disease.
