Abstract:
The people of Hulu Sungai Utara have preserved flowers to be used as souvenirs that have been proven to last
for decades. The preservation technique is a local wisdom whose formulation is unknown, so it is necessary to study
the preservation technique and formulation so that the community's industry can survive and be developed. The
study aims to determine the effect of a combination of n-propanol alcohol-glycerin concentration ratio and duration
of fixation on the quality of the Alamanda flower during wet preservation and determine the best treatment during
the preservation and color resistance of the Alamanda flower. The study was conducted in September - October
2018 at the Laboratory of Agricultural Chemical Analysis and Water Quality and Hydroecobiology Laboratory,
Faculty of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarbaru. The method used is a 2
factorial complete randomized design with fixation solution concentration factors and fixation time. The
concentration of fixation solution consists of n-propanol alcohol and glycerin as much as 30: 70%, 40: 60% and 50:
50%. Duration of Soaking (Fixation) 12, 18 and 24 hours. Observations included turbidity, pH values, color
brightness and freshness, made on days 1, -14, and -28. Research shows that the difference in the concentration of
the fixation solution and the length of fixation do not affect the pH and turbidity but affect the brightness and
freshness. The best results are 50% n-propanol concentration treatment: 50% glycerin for a long time.
