Abstract:
A research on formaldehyde determination using potentiometric and spectrophotometric methods
has been carried out. The aim of this study was to compare the results of formaldehyde content in
samples between potentiometric methods and spectrophotometric methods. The research began
by making a formaldehyde sensor using cellulose acetate as the ionophore. The next step was
measuring the formaldehyde levels of the sample using a sensor and spectrophotometric
methods. The results of the formaldehyde measurement were compared between the two
methods. The results showed that the formaldehyde concentration measured using the
spectrophotometric method was 1.275; 2.071 and 2.978 ppm, while using the potentiometric
method of 1.40; 2.08 and 3.07 ppm. Basedon the calculation, the value of tcount < ttable for DB
(n-2) shows that there is no significant difference between the potentiometric method and the
spectrophotometric method in determining formaldehyde. Keywords : formaldehyde, spectrophotometric, potentiometric.
