Abstract:
The mold has ability to adapted for heavy metal contaminated environment. In this day, mold was developed to be bioremediator because its excess of high biomass. The isolated hyphae was identified for resistance to Cr and its ability to reduce Cr concentration in the soils. The mold hyphae was isolated from soil sediments with two different spots, inlet and outlet in Situ Kuru South Tangerang. The isolate was assessed for its ability to growth in the medium amended with different concentrations of Cr at 10 – 100 ppm. The results showed that nine different mold species were found to be Scedosporium sp. 1SKI, Cylindrocladium sp. 2SKI, Paecilomyces sp. 3SKI, Chloridium sp. 4SKI, Blastomyces sp. 5SKI, Umbelopsis sp. 6SKI, Aspergillus sp. 7SKI, Sepedonium sp. 1SKO dan Aspergillus sp. 2SKO. Based on the bioremediation activity, at least six species was found to tolerate Cr concentration as high as 100 ppm and it could be used for mycofiltration agens of Cr from effluents.
