Hygienic behavior is a behavior pattern that be a guidance, and has become imperative for the community to adapt it to avoid diseases caused by unsanitary behavior. The purpose of this study to examine the differences between the community in housing complex and in fringes of the river for hygiene behavior, on Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan. This study uses qualitative and quantitative methods. Technique subject of research were 58 people, that consisting of 29 people living in housing complex, and 29 people living on the fringes of the river. Subject of the research were randomly taken from the various location around the city of Banjarmasin. Instrument for collecting data used interview and questionnaires. Data analysis using Independent sample T-Test. Result for this study is independent-samples T test showed that the results of significant Levene’s test for equality of variences amount to 0,49, the results show that the second variance is the same, 0,495>0,05. The test was also obtained from the t= 5.170 and significance of 0,000<0,05. So from these results we can conclude that there showed difference hygiene behavior between the community in housing complex and in fringes of the river.
