Description:
South Kalimantan has a tropical climate which is the best condition for the growth of vegetation. Rattan is typical of many tropical plant found in the forests of Borneo. One of the forests in South Kalimantan is the waterfall area Rampah Menjangan Loksado. Waterfall area Rampah Menjangan classified wetlands highland, which is composed of a waterfall and river highland. This research aimed determine diversity index of Rattan which were scattered around the waterfall Rampah Menjangan Loksado. Data collection was done by exploring total area on a transect along the 2700 m and a width of 20 m down the river flow of the waterfall Rampah Menjangan. Species found will calculated the number of individuals per species, and then the data are tabulated in the calculation formula of abundance and diversity index by Shannon-Winner. Environmental parameters were also measured to analyze the influence of environment on the species of rattan. Found 9 species of rattan are divided into 2 genera. All individual rattans species of waterfall area Rampah Menjangan found were 318 individuals. Rattan species with the highest important values index (IVI) is Calamus manan Miq. (44.292), while species with the lowest important values (IV) is Daemonorops angustifolia (Griff) Mart. (9.802). The average of rattan diversity index in the waterfall area Rampah Menjangan Loksado is "standard", with the index diversity value of 2.1001.
