Based on the result of the screening methods, the locations that are feasible for participatory forest and land rehabilitation in Tanah Lau district are Salaman and Riam Adungan villages. Planted areas available for Salaman village is 50 ha, whereas for Riam Adungan village is 150 ha. Tree species that are suitable to be planted on the areas are sengon, kemiri, mahoni, jabon, acacia mangium, and superior teak, whereas crops species are hill paddy, corn, peanut, ginger, pineapple, red pepper, and galangal (kencur). The system that should be applied is agroforestry. To support the success of the system, the local people should be involved as partners, not as labours. The righs and responsibilties of each party involved shoul be clear in a contract. The local government should support the systems through insentives, extensions, and training. The locatios/villages that has showed the success on forest and land rehabilitation activities should be given a priority on the programs.
