Description:
ABSTRACT: Water quality of shrimp ponds can be predicted by composing a two dimensional (2-D) numerical model of
hydrodynamic and water quality. Those model are based on numerical solution of hydrodynamic and water quality parameters
transport equation. Main parameters of water quality in this study are dissolved oxygen and other oxygen related aspects, such
as pyrite oxidation, ammoniac oxidation, shrimp, nourishment, sediment, bacteria, zooplankton, and paddle wheel (oxygen
source). Those parameters are considered to spread widely as part of pond ecosystem. Hydrodynamic equation is solved with
explicit Mac Cormack method and water quality transport equation with Quickest method. Validity of this two dimensional (2–
D) numerical model has been conducted by comparing the result with measurement of stream flow and dissolved oxygen level
pattern in shrimp pond. The validity test result has given satisfactory result.
