Abstrak- Kertas merupakan benda yang sering digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang terdiri dari
serat selulosa dan hemiselulosa yang biasanya terdapat di alam. Umumnya bahan baku kertas adalah
kayu (wood) dan bukan kayu (non wood). Salah satu limbah pertanian dan perkebunan yang dapat diolah
menjadi bahan baku alternatif pembuatan kertas adalah tandan kosong kelapa sawit dan sekam padi
karena memiliki serat selulosa dan hemiselulosa. Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh
konsentrasi NaOH terhadap yield pulp yang dihasilkan serta pengaruh perpaduan campuran tandan
kosong kelapa sawit dan sekam padi terhadap yield pulp dan kualitas kertas yang dihasilkan. Penelitian
ini menggunakan proses pulping dimana limbah tandan kosong kelapa sawit dicampur dengan NaOH
(2, 4, 6, dan 8% w/v). Proses pulping (100oC) selama 60 menit. Konsentasi NaOH yang menghasilkan
yield terbaik digunakan pada proses pulping campuran sekam padi dan tandan kosong kelapa sawit (1:3,
1:2, 1:1, 2:1, dan 3:1) kemudian didinginkan selama 30 menit, lalu dicuci dengan air bersih yang
mengalir sampai permukaan pulp menjadi tidak licin. Pulp dilakukan proses bleaching NaClO 5,25%
(v/v), kemudian dicetak dan dikeringkan sebagai produk kertas. Hasil yeild yang didapat untuk
konsentrasi NaOH terkecil pada sekam padi yaitu 25,6% dan 23,3% pada konsentrasi 6% dan 8% serta
pada tandan kosong 24,4% dan 20,4% pada konsentrasi yang sama. Untuk campuran tandan kosong
kelapa sawit dan sekam padi menggunakan NaOH 6% (w/v) (1:3, 1:2, 1:1, 2:1, dan 3:1) secara berturutturut
didapat yield pulp 34,4%, 32,4%, 32%, 27,6%, dan 29,6%.

Abstract- Paper is an object that is frequently used in daily life that consists of cellulose and
hemicellulose fibers are usually found in nature. Generally the paper raw materials are wood (wood) and
non-wood (non-wood). One of the agricultural and plantation wastes which can be processed into
alternative raw materials papermaking is empty fruit bunches of oil palm and rice husk because it has
fiber cellulose and hemicellulose. This research aims to determine the effect of the concentration of
NaOH to yield pulp produced as well as the effect of a blend mixture of oil palm empty fruit bunches and
rice husk to the pulp yield and quality of the paper produced. This study uses a pulping process where
waste oil palm empty fruit bunches are mixed with NaOH (2, 4, 6, and 8% w / v). Pulping process (100 °
C) for 60 minutes. The concentration of NaOH yielding best used in the pulping process a mixture of rice
and oil palm empty bunches (1: 3, 1: 2, 1: 1, 2: 1 and 3: 1) and then cooled for 30 minutes, then washed
with water clean running until the surface becomes slippery pulp. Pulp bleaching process is carried out
NaClO 5.25% (v / v), then printed and dried as paper products. Yeild results obtained for the smallest
concentration of NaOH on rice husk that is 25.6% and 23.3% at a concentration of 6% and 8%, and the
empty fruit bunches 24.4% and 20.4% at the same concentration. To a mixture of empty fruit bunches of
oil palm and rice husk using NaOH 6% (w / v) (1: 3, 1: 2, 1: 1, 2: 1 and 3: 1) successively obtained pulp
yield 34.4 %, 32.4%, 32%, 27.6% and 29.6%.
