dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT: Concrete is composed of three main element of cement, aggregates (sand and gravel), and water. A large number of the use of concrete in the construction world resulted in an increased need for concrete materials, thus triggering the large scale sand mining as one of the concrete-forming material, this led to a decrease in the amount of natural resources. therefore an alternative to the sand needs to be developed as a substitute for sand in concrete mixtures. This experiment is substitute fine aggregate used in the concrete mix is kerang darah clam. it used as a substitute for reducing the use of sand. Kerang darah (Anadara granosa) can be found on almost every coast in Indonesia, the local communities around the coast consume shellfish meat and discard the clam shells. So that the clam shells become unused waste. This experiment is using five type of concrete with the use of clam shells for comparison, first type is B0 with 0% of clam shell as control sample, and BK (BK1, BK2, BK3, BK4) with a substitute for Sand with the following percentage, 10%, 25%, 35%, and 50% of the volume of fine aggregate. The sample use standard cylinder with measurements 30 cm in high and 15 cm in diameter. This experiment tested the compressive strength of concrete with compressive machine based on SNI standards. From the results of the experiments can be concluded that the use of kerang darah clam can be used as a substitute or a reduction of sand in the concrete. It is seen from the difference in the compressive strength is not much different between control sample (B0) and combination (BK), with the difference between B1(21,13 MPa) and BK1 (22,08 MPa) is 4,46%, with BK2 (23,59 MPa) or 11,61%, with BK3 (24,16) or 14,29%, and with BK4 (22,08) or 4,64%.
