Abstract:
Macerals can be analogized as minerals in rocks used for microscopic coal classification.
Maceral types can determine the level of gasification reactivity. This research aims to
determine maceral types in relation to gasification reactivity and gasification potential. Coal
maceral observation was conducted using a Nikon polarization microscope. Maceral
observation results on coal identified three types of macerals, while liptinite macerals
including sporinite, cutinite, resinite, and suberinite have secondary composition in T200
seam coal. The vitrinite maceral group has a total volume percentage between 55.1-66.2%.
The liptinite maceral group in T200 seam has a total volume percentage between 9-2.2% vol.
The inertinite maceral group in T200 seam has a total volume percentage between 2-4.75%
vol. From these percentages, vitrinite maceral content is more dominant. Vitrinite macerals in
T200 seam coal dominate the maceral content percentage across all petrographic samples,
consisting of 10 samples.
