Abstract:
This reference book is developed based on the doctoral dissertation titled ‘GIS-Based Approach to Participatory Land Suitability Analysis for Tree Plantations’, which I completed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive guide for university students and practitioners in forestry to understand the participatory GIS-based framework for planning and evaluating land suitability for tree plantations. With the increasing need for inclusive, community-oriented, and data-driven approaches in forestry, this book offers both conceptual and practical insights. It integrates geospatial analysis, socio-economic assessments, and stakeholder preferences to promote sustainable forest plantation development.
