Abstract:
Pond bottom soil is a very important factor in fish farming, because its good quality
greatly affects the quality of pond water and in turn will greatly affect the life (production) of
cultured fish. This study aims to determine the effect of successful nursery of climbing perch
larvae with various types of soil on survival and growth, and to determine the best type of soil
for nursery of Climbing perch larvae on survival and growth. This study used a Completely
Randomized Design with four treatments and three replicates x 3, resulting in 12 experimental
units. Each experimental unit contained 500 climbing perch larvae, the larvae were allowed to
find their own food because the nursery pond already provided Daphnia sp. and other natural
food grown during the preparation of the nursery pond. The treatment given was different soil
media. Treatments (A) Red and yellow podzolic soil, (B) Peat soil, (C) Swamp soil, (D) Soil
from ponds resulting from cultivation activities (Control). The results showed that different soil
types did not significantly affect survival but significantly affected the growth of climbing perch
larvae. The best type of soil for breeding climb perch larvae is in treatment A with 29.93%
survival, 11.89 mm length growth, 0.33gram weight gain.
