dc.description.abstract Introduction: Stroke is a major cause of disability such as hemiparesis of the upper limb and limits the patient. The purpose of this study was to determine the weaknesses and strengths of previous interventions, analyze the effect of mirror therapy combined cylindrical grip on muscle strength, upper limb range of motion and self-care of post stroke patients. Method: This research is a mixed-method research with qualitative to quantitative exploratory design, the first stage uses qualitative research with an exploratory descriptive approach to 6 participants at Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin. The second stage uses a quantitative research design with a quasy experimental research design (pre-post test with control group design). The population is post stroke patients who experience hemiparesis in the Medical Rehabilitation Poly Ulin and Dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin Hospital with a sample of 66 respondents (33/33) in the intervention and control group using purposive sampling. The independent variable is mirror therapy combination cylindrical grip. The dependent variable is muscle strength, range of motion of the upper limb and self care. Data were collected using dynamometer handgrips, goniometers and self-care modification questionnaires and analyzed using Kolmogorov Smirnov, Wilcoxon sign rank test and MANOVA. Results: The Wilcoxon test results in the intervention and control groups showed significant differences between each muscle strength, range of motion and self-care before and after the Mirror Therapy combination Cylindrical Grip with a value of 0,000 (p <0.05). An increase in weak muscle strength to normal muscle strength by 8 respondents (21.21%). An increase in the range of motion angle above the median value of each of 17 respondents (51.5%). A total of 17 respondents (25.8%) were able to be independent in self-care. The results of the manova test showed a significance value of p value <0.00 (α 0.05) which showed that there was an effect of Mirror Therapy combined Cylindrical Grip on muscle strength, range of motion of the upper limb and self-care of post stroke patients. Conclusion: Cylindrical Grip combined Mirror Therapy has been proven to increase muscle strength, upper extremity range of motion especially elbows and fingers and self care especially toileting. Interventions can be used as a support for pharmacological therapy in hospitals. en_US
