ABSTRACT
Old age is associated with several dental and oral problems such as tooth loss, difficulty swallowing and chewing food, which is followed by various diseases. This will affect the quality of life of the elderly. The purpose of this study was to describe the quality of life related to dental and oral health of the elderly in the city of Banjarmasin. Methods This study used a descriptive study with a quantitative approach using a cross sectional method to describe the quality of life in the elderly regarding dental and oral health. The subjects came from retired civil servants in the Banjarmasin City Government according to the inclusion criteria. The research sample is 58 people. The sampling technique was
simple random sampling using the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) questionnaire. Analysis of the data used descriptive analysis of the variables of gender, last education, use of dentures, and quality of life of the elderly who were studied using the frequency distribution and percentage of each group. The results of this study were female respondents were 62.07%, the most education level was bachelor degree 58.62%, did not use dentures 68.97%, the most quality of life was good category 56.90%. quality of life
