dc.description.abstract Prostate cancer is the second most common malignancy in men and the sixth cause of death in men in the world. The number of elderly men in Banjarbaru City, including in the North Banjarbaru Health Center working area, continues to increase. The number of elderly people in the North Banjarbaru Community Health Center working area in 2022 will be 11,920 people (32.02% of the total population), with the number of elderly men being 6,052 people (16.26% of the total population). This is a risk factor for prostate cancer in elderly men in the North Banjarbaru Community Health Center working area. It is necessary to empower health workers in early detection of prostate cancer at the North Banjarbaru Community Health Center. The health workers targeted are doctors and nurses who provide services to the elderly at the North Banjarbaru Community Health Center's Posyandu for the Elderly. The activities carried out include training in early detection of prostate cancer and prostate cancer education to the community. The training activity was attended by 14 North Banjarbaru Health Center health workers. The aim of the training activity is to train health workers in early detection and prevention of prostate cancer so that they can diagnose prostate cancer earlier in the elderly in the North Banjarbaru Health Center working area. This activity can be said to be successful as judged by the increase in participants' knowledge (average pretest score 74.29 and posttest 92.86) and the increased skills of health workers in early detection and prevention of prostate cancer as assessed by participants' activeness when responding. The prostate cancer education activity was attended by 33 elderly people. The aim of outreach activities is to provide education to the public about risk factors, early detection and prevention of prostate cancer. This activity can be said to be successful as judged by the increase in the knowledge of the counseling participants (average pretest score 59.39 and posttest 88.48). en_US
