dc.description.abstract Dwelling is a place that is most closely related to the daily activities of residents, especially domestic activities. Inside of dwelling there are several spaces to fulfill the needs of human activities that correspond with function of the space. In reality, the function of the space does not determine what activities take place in that space. This research studied the use of space in dwellings, especially on stilt houses on the riverside of Banjarmasin. Field study showed that one type of domestic activity is carried out in various spaces in the dwelling; also in one domestic space, various domestic activities could take place. The existence of houses on the riverside plays a role in the use of space for this domestic activity. en_US
