Abstract:
The main problem faced by rural communities of peat swamp forest is in an oil palm plantation is related to accessibility and their dependence on land use and forest products ranging limited because due to changes and peat swamp forest conversion into oil palm plantation area. The purpose of this study is to formulate adaptation strategies peat swamp forest villagers in the face of environmental changes in the biophysical and social environment as a result of the change and peat swamp forest conversion into oil palm plantation area. Approach the research methods used to achieve the purpose of the research is quantitative and qualitative approaches as mixed methods study methodology or mixed model. The study was conducted at the Inter-Raya and Antar Desa Jaya subdistrict Marabahan Barito Kuala. The results of this study indicate that there has been a social change in the aspect of population (demography), the socioeconomic aspects of society and the socio-cultural aspects. In the social changes facing society adapting livelihood diversification through double napkah patterns, maintaining the existence of rice fields and plantations, paddy fields do the extension, to send children kejenjang higher education and completing basic rural infrastructure. The adaptation process is done by the community addressing adaptive adaptation process in which these changes have a positive impact on the sustainability of village life peat swamp forests.
