dc.description.abstract This study aims to determine the condition of vegetation and land cover in the watershed land critical level Satui South Kalimantan Province. Determination of the critical level of soil and vegetation conditions pentupan land and direction control is done through a spatial approach to land cover conditions by utilizing Geographic information systems. Results of the study showed that: 1) Existing conditions: a) vegetation cover an area of 49703.37 ha of forest (32%), non-forest vegetation cover 83694.61 ha (54%); b) not vegetated land 20123.65 ha (13%). Land with the critical criteria (critical and very critical) covering 34435.67 ha (22.43%). 2) Referrals decrease the critical level of land; a) enrichment of forest vegetation cover as wide 66975.57 ha (44%), while the open land, shrubs and reduced mining area of 17782.99 ha (12%); b) based on the enrichment of vegetation lowers the critical level of land to be critical 1536.82 ha (1.01%); c) the enrichment of forest vegetation cover and decrease the degree of criticality of land can improve watershed Satui function as a regulator of the water system to control the flood vulnerability and improving the productivity of land for public welfare en_US
