Productivity and reproductivity of swamp buffaloes decreased, among others, due to the decreasing population of the natural forage, which has palatable and nutritious, so it is necessary to cultivate. This study aims to provide information about the growth, production, and nutrient content (crude protein and crude fiber) kumpai minyak one of the natural forages of swamp buffaloes that are palatable and nutritious, and cultured. The kumpai minyak cultivation is carried out in the lowlands area in Benua Raya Village, Bati-Bati Sub-District, Tanah Laut Regency with the approach of superior grass cultivation on dry land. The pols consist of 3 crops 25 cm long planted on an area of 5.5 m X 5.5 m, divided into 4 plots each 2.5 m X 2.5 m with a distance of 0.5 m plot. Each plot was planted with 16 pols at plant spacing 0.5 m X 0.5 m, selected 4 sample plant groves were for observation. Manure is given one week before planting with a dose of 10 tons.ha-1, and immediately after planting is given Urea, TSP, and KCl fertilizer, with a dose each 100 kg Urea.ha-1, 50 kg TSP.ha-1, 50 Kg KCl.ha-1. The cultivation result obtained the dry matter production of 7.37 tons.ha-1, the growth of the number of tillers 148 plants, a tiller height of 54.24 cm, a crude protein content of 14,00%, and crude fiber of 36,31%. The production and nutritional content kumpai minyak of cultivated are quite high so it can be developed as the main feed for the swamps buffaloes and other ruminants through cultivation technology. |
