ABSTRACT. The choice of industrial location and the allocation of space used for the industry
are important for environmentally sound development. Many technical parameters are involved
but also non-technical such as economic, social, and sometimes political environments. Recently,
industrial locations tend to be made closer to ports or carry out clustering based on existing
industries. This study aims to provide input for the development of industrial areas or the allocation
of industrial areas on a macro scale. The variable used are slope class, main and branch road,
conservation area, potential area for agriculture, urban and rural settlement, main-river, and land
movement potential. The analysis used is Spatial-based Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM)
with weighting. Base on the research, the area that suitable for industrial location in South
Kalimantan is 230.557 ha. An area of 218.749 ha is located in the forest and plantation area, only
11.422 ha can be used as an industrial area.
