Speaking Courses are to give the students opportunities on how to make the best use of their potential in speaking English. In fact, there might still be classes which are conducted not on the base of speaking simultaneously as in performing dialog in front of the class two on two meanwhile the rest of the students, who sit at their chairs, wait anxiously for their turn or just talk to their friends about something else. Furthermore, this kind of non-concurrent activity does not really maximize the acquisition of the language. There have been a lot of suggested classroom activities which might trigger the students to the natural use of the target language. Simultaneous speaking activities are the procedures which trigger the students unconsciously to the maximum use of English through the total participation of each student in the designed techniques. This mini research intends to elaborate the implementation of simultaneous speaking activities that have been exposed to the students of Speaking II Course. The activities were adopted from some sources and believed to be activating the students during the teaching and learning process. Lecturer’s observation and students’ opinion are compared to conclude the output of the activities implemented. |
