dc.description This study aimed to evaluate the effect of prebiotic, probiotic and synbiotic supplementation on growth performances and health status of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) before and after infected by Aeromonas hydrophila. Common carps (5.93 ± 0.24 g) were randomly stocked into aquariums (65x40x40cm3)with a density of 15 fish/aquarium. This study used CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with five treatments and three replications; control (-), control (+), (A) prebiotic, (B) probiotic and (C) synbiotic. Experimental feed was given for 30 days by at satiation method three times a day. Furthermore, common carps, except control (-), were injected with A. hydrophila suspension via intramuscular route at a dose of 105 CFU/mL (0.1 mL/individual). Parameters observed in this study were growth performances, blood biochemical, and immune responses. The results of this study showed that growth performances parameters included digestive enzymes activity, daily growth rate, feed conversion ratio, protein digestibility, total digestibility, protein retention, and lipid retention on prebiotic, probiotic, and synbiotic treatment were higher than controls, with the highest values were obtained in synbiotic treatment. Liver and muscle glycogen content on probiotic and synbiotic treatment were significantly different with control. Immune responses parameters before and after the challenge test on prebiotic, probiotic, and synbiotic were better than positive control followed with higher survival rate values (66.67-80.00%) than positive control (46.67%). In conclusions, combination of probiotic Bacillus sp. NP5 1% (v/w) 1010 CFU/g feed with prebiotic from sweet potato 2% (v/w) could improve growth performances, immune responses and resistance of common carp against A. hydrophila infection.
