dc.description This study is aimed to investigate the school community’s perception toward the internalization of the Banjarese cultures into English teaching in Banjarmasin’s Junior High School. The usefulness of this research includes at least two aspects in the context; theoretical significance and its practicality. Theoretically, the results of this study may provide a new view of the integrated English teaching toward the Banjarese cultures and defend the values of local wisdom through learning English. In practical terms, the results serve concrete contribution of the development strategy of maintaining awareness of local knowledge through learning English as well as making the students possess the positive attitude towards the importance of maintaining the values of local wisdom. This study is conducted by using qualitative approach and a descriptive method. The population of the study is the students and teachers of Junior High Schools in the river area in Banjarmasin. This study uses interviews and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The analysis technique used is content analysis (content analysis), which is an analysis of the content acquired both from interviews and questionnaires.
