The community of Cemara Labat village has a local wisdom to managing their environment. Local wisdom can be made use of as an important component in the effort of rescueing biological resources. Local wisdom is one of national characteristics so that it deserve to be exploited and developed further in the future. Realizing the above facts encourages the researcher to carry out a resear about existence of local wisdom of the community of the Cemara Labat village in preserving biological resources with the title of the research “ The local wisdom of the Community of Cemara Labat Village community in preserving the Mangrove Forest”. The purpose of the research is to describe forms of local wisdoms of the community of Cemara Labat village community in preserving mangrove forest and to describe the relationship of the local wisdom community of Cemara Labat village community with mangrove forest preservation. The methods used in this research were observation, interview, and literature study. This research included qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the community of Cemara Labat village had local wisdom in preserving mangrove forest in the form of probation of cutting mangrove trees, keeping mangrove as protected forest area, and carried out reforestation on damaged land. There was a significant relationship between local wisdom community of Cemara Labat village and preservation of mangrove forest, that was, local wisdom played an important role in preserving mangrove forest.
