dc.description Rawa Aopa is the largest peat swamp in Sulawesi and became an important habitat for waterbirds. This study aims to determine the diversity of waterbirds at Rawa Aopa. Transect method by boating was used to observed waterbird population. Data were analyzed using the index of Shannon Weinner diversity, Simpson dominance, Pielou evenness, and Margalef species richness index. The results showed that Rawa Aopa is rich in waterbird diversity. Birds are spread evenly and there are no dominant species. Rawa Aopa also became a habitat for endangered and protected bird species. Base on these conditions, it is important to manage the swamp wisely to improve the condition of habitat and preserve the rich biodiversity of Rawa Aopa.
