ABSTRACT
Delta is an accumulation of sediment that influences of river and marine. Marine agent has a function to
redistribute sediment in delta, such as tide. Intensively, tide influenced Barito Delta development. The
objectives of the research are to analyze the pattern of tide height in the wet season and dry season and to
evaluate the influence of tide height and tide velocity for suspended sediment transport (SSC). Tidal
measurements were conducted in four locations as follows: Tamban channel, Trisakti harbor, Kapuas, and
Belawang, with eight replicates. Tides were measured in the dry season and wet season for one day with
one hour interval. Suspended sediments were taken on the highest and lowest tide level during 24 hours.
The research showed that tide in wet season was higher than in dry season due to rain water. Both in the
wet season and dry season, there were no significant differences of the height of tide between spring tide
and neap tide. In wet season and dry season, tides have the low influence for SSC transport. The role of
river discharge is more important in Barito Delta than tides.
