Abstract:
This paper describes about community empowerment Kerayaan Island. Kerayaan
Island is one of a group of islands located in the district of Kotabaru. Population living on the Kerayaan Island numbered 2.628 peoples. Kerayaan Island is famous as a maker of woodboat or woodship Pinisi. There are seven ship-based venture capital owned. From the shipbuilding process always result also woodwaste such as sawdust, pieces of boards and wooden beams. By the makers of woodenships Pinisi, woodwaste is often left alone to accumulate in the vicinity of the shipyard. Seeing the potensial of woodwaste such major events it is necessary to empower
community members to be able to use it. The activities carried out in the conjuction with
Karang Taruna. Wastewood that had been used only as firewood will be processed into the form of a miniature ship handicraft items Pinisi, musical instruments, and household items. The advantages that can be gained is an increase in the economiy and improving the quality of the environment as wastewood is used so that the environment be clean and free of the waste pollution
